JeffCo Kids First reaches $40,000 in scholarships this year!  We are excited and humbled to provide scholarships each year to students graduating in Jefferson County who wish to continue their education through university, community college, trade school, or other higher education endeavors.

Jeffco Kids First Scholarship Awards 2026 

$1000 for 10 Graduating High School Seniors

*This scholarship does not require GPA

 

Our mission: To secure our children's future by preserving their present.

 

Eligibility:

-Candidate must be a graduating Jefferson County Colorado High School Senior (public, private, charter, homeschool students welcome).

 

-Candidate must be seeking higher education (including university, community college, or trade school)

Criteria:

-The candidate will submit an essay (750 words or less) responding to the following (please refrain from using teacher names):

 

Describe a specific moment or experience in a classroom that shifted your understanding from simply absorbing information to actively questioning, analyzing, and forming your own conclusions. What was the topic or discussion, and how did your teacher facilitate (or not facilitate) the exchange of ideas? In particular, reflect on the teacher’s approach to neutrality—or lack thereof—and how that influenced the range of perspectives shared and the dynamics in the room. What lasting lessons did this teach you about thinking independently, and how has it shaped your approach to learning, decision-making, or engaging with differing viewpoints since then? Looking ahead, how will this experience continue to guide you in your academic, professional, or personal pursuits?

 

-The candidate will submit 2 letters of recommendation from non-relatives speaking to their character, integrity, and unique qualities.

 

Procedure (please follow specific instructions):

-Combine essay and 2 letters of recommendation in 1 PDF file saved as your first and last name. 

 

-Include a header on your PDF file with first and last name, name of high school, email, and phone number.

 

-Include one sentence under the heading stating your plans for higher education.

 

-Your completed PDF file must be submitted to jeffcokidsfirst@gmail.com by April 5, 2026 at 11:59 pm.

 

-Finalists will be notified within 4 weeks.
